I've tried reading High Fidelity before, but wasn't able to finish. I've always wondered why I stopped reading it--given that, hey, Nick Hornby, and two: music references. I love everything which has music references.
I reread the first part, and remembered--Rob is, yes, in Liz's words, such an arsehole, and an insufferable slob. It's not even like his character was that nice anyway.
But Rob seems to be a person who just.. stopped caring. He loved DJing once, but it's just impossible not to look for a vacant position, or even a similar one if he'd just try. It's not like he didn't know what he wanted--if he cou'd be passionate about one thing, it would be records. And there's more to music and records than just collecting. But like George Lass, he seems to have just.. given up. If you'd reach that level of ennui, what do you do then?
